The Air Max 1 has been going full steam all-year long as it was the highlighted for this year’s Air Max Day celebrations, seen in collaborative form with Concepts and Kasina and more. And now it’s being fashioned in a new “Woman’s Best Friend” colorway that shines a light on the loving relationship between a woman and her dog. First, the mudguard and tongue features a bandana-like pattern and material — a nod to the handkerchiefs that dogs wear around their necks. The bright green interior and grassy insoles represent the tennis balls and grassy plains that pups love to play on, while the natural tones reflect the color of pastoral dogs that are very common in Asia. Nike also adds hairy materials on the tongue, while lightly plush textures cover the quarter and the heel. The Air Max 1 “Woman’s Best Friend” also mis-matches the color-blocking, with varying shades comprising the right and left shoe.
